Performance Measurement Workshops -- (Cont'd)
What follows is a concept for workshops designed to teach public sector professionals how to develop performance indicators, and then how to make use of the information gathered for the betterment of their programmes' performance. These are not academic courses, but rather are aimed at practicing managers who wish to infuse a programme performance growth orientation into their organizations. The workshops do not describe complex systems or convoluted decision-making processes, but rather give simple step by step guidance, in plain language, about how to develop and implement performance management within their organizations. A workshop is tailored for an organization through the use of appropriate examples and case studies. While its content and format can be modified somewhat to suit any specific needs that clients may have, the agenda would nonetheless generally follow the outline appended. The agenda topics that are discussed in greater detail on an attached page. For maximum learning impact, enrolment is usually limited to about 30 to 40 people (in order to better handle the group discussions). A main lecture room large enough to handle space for break-out groups is required, plus an overhead projector and screen, and flip charts. There may be a few case studies that should be read ahead of time, and there is a hand-out that is remitted at the workshops. The workshops are led by the Consultants.
